Turn out

Into the silence of the night.Cold, peaceful and wet night.Everyone was resting after a long day.Preparation for the Exercise Tough Eagle.

2am, as the 68 of us were into our deep thoughts.Thunderflash was heard, smoke gernade was thrown and the turn out alarm came ringing. We jump out of our bed, grab our weapon, webbing and helmet. In quick time fall in at the parade square awaiting for instructions.Strength was checked, reported and equipment was all in order.

The order came, Exercise Tough Eagle is activated. We did a last preparation, form up and was ready to go.Signal set tested, navigation equipment and maps checked. We marched out the 4 SIR gate running towards the chinese cemetry office. Once there, we were push off for our navigation exercise. 7 checkpoints in 2 hours, the morning was cooling put most of us are pretty tired. We fast march from chinese cemetry cutting through to the muslim cemetry then into the training area of Lim chu Kang. We completed the navigation exercise at around 6am, taking about 3hrs 30 mins. The timing wasnt good but we did our best, covering 15km in 3hrs 30 mins.

Next mission given to us once we reach Lim chu kang training shed.To do a casualty evacation back to camp.It was around 0630 in the morning and we were only given 15 minutes rest after the navigation exercise. We got everyone ready and push off, running down the rocky path of Lim chu kang out to the Lim chu kang Road and back to camp. The distance was about 3km.The objective is to reach back in camp in an hour time. But we manage to reach camp in 38 minutes.Everyone was tired by then, backache, shoulder aching and legs not listening to us.But itz all in the mind.

Last mission, to clear SOC with casualty in 10 mintues. We only need to clear 5 station--Low wall, stepping log, horizontal beam, gate and ramp.Everyone was tired but they push on.We finally ended the mission infront of the Eagle's creed. We had our pledge lead by CO, followed by the presentation of the Eagle's badge which symoblize a family of the Eagle.Exercise Tough Eagle came to an end just like that.We might be tired but the togetherness, bonding and Espirit De corp make the mission a success.

Last but not least, we ended the day with a Happy Hour in the specialist Mess.Where the new commanders were welcomed by the senior commanders. What i learnt today, never to work alone.sometimes, you need the help of others.

Guys, It might seem tough.but like what people like to say 'Its all in your mind'.How you want it to be.Everyone will bound to feel tired and they will just dont care about everything. It takes 2 hands to clap.As specialists, we need to push, motivate and help one another to accomplish our mission.Yes, Exercise Tough Eagle is indeed tough.but 68 of us went through it and no one gave up.We motivated one another throughout the whole exercise. The bonding of the commanders were there.

Towards Greater Heights

Cheers
