First day in 4 SIR

First day in 4 SIR.I reported at 0715.pretty early thou. The S1 only reached camp at about 0800hrs.Was a long way from home to Lim chu kang camp 2.

The camp was pretty old, old infrastructure.Nothing much there at all. The whole battalion is on block leave now, left over the new specialist who just graduated from the advance course and the 19 instructor posted today from SISPEC.I went there with nothing to expect, i know itz a old camp.Heard lotz of stories about the unit but still i went over with just a normal pace.No excitment or anything to look forward to.

S1 gave a brief on the unit itself. Was told that we will going to be there for only a year and we wont see the unit turn ops.So why post us there??but well..at least we change a working environment for 1 year under comissioned officer. After reporting to Bravo coy where we will be hosuing temporary.the living condition was a culture shock. In SISPEC, bunks are in better condition. Here, cupboards are spoilt, rushy and even dirty.Let alone the toilet.WOW..its like a coffeeshop toilet man.I wonder what did the last mono commanders did to the man or what the platoon sgt is doing.

After putting down our stuff, we went for a run. 3 rounds 'around' the camp withhin 14 mintues so its about 3km.The last time i ran was like months ago before the Basic course starts so guess how long have i not run??came in at about 17 minutes, 3 mintues extra from the given time.Meaning personal training must start from now before the man come in for PTP in 7 mar, have about 2.5 months to train.

Before lunch, the unit CO gave a short brief on his expectation.Nothing different from SISPEC but we have more free play.Anyway, unit should be better than school but guess what??we gotta stay in even thou from now till 7 march we have nothing much except UIP.Went for lunch at about 1300hrs and back for RSM brief.

Wow..a day full of briefing.Did a dissicuion on the training programme on UIP after the new year and submitted up to RSM.went through with him and somehow its firm up.After which, we had a 'talk cock' session with RSM.His background, expectation and how a section commander should work so on and so fore.

Ended the day with last parade at 1730.It was starting to rain so everyone is rushing as there is no shelter.Damn...when will my car come??the jounery home is just so slow.Maybe im used to driving around these few days thats why.Well...from tomorrow to next tuesday will be on leave before we go back on wednesday for the start of the 2 weeks UIP.

Overall, so far still okay, just okay only.I wont rate a pass as the standard is not up to SISPEC.In terms of cleaniness.Management so far i hvnt seen anything yet.Just that other then guard duty, COS..2nd sgt must do BOS.meaning i have to do BOS too...sigh..one more duty to cover..haha

Guys, itz not easy to be a commander.Especially a combat specialist because we are the backbone of the SAF.We must uphold our discipline and the men discipline.Like what RSM say 'We have to know our men inside out and we have to be their brother.Their commander'

4 SIR---Towards Greater Heights.

cheers
